Shanghai Expo

Leaving the group behind, myself and Jeppe then decided to head over to the Expo for a late night stroll around the lit up pavilion buildings.

On the metro stations these arrows indicate where people should stand to let people exit the train. These are typically ignored in the free-for-all for the seats. We timed the gap between someone getting up and someone taking the seat and the longest was 0.51 seconds :D

Floor stickers indicate the way to the Expo entrance. You're following the yellow ones.

When Jackie Chan isn't selling out to Hollywood he's selling out to Camera companies. But then again he is one China's biggest celebrities so had to have some sort of link to the Expo.

The attraction is insanely popular and most of the pavilions were still heaving, even at the hour that we were there. The Swiss Pavilion is the only one that has a ride, it's a chairlift thing that goes up onto the roof. When we got there the ride wasn't moving so we didn't bother queueing.

Rather disappointingly the British pavilion, which had won awards for it's design wasn't lit up. A real shame.

Our favourite pavilion was the Dutch one, which was a perfect design of moving people through the attraction and had some gorgeous Dutch girls who were keen to speak to English speakers.

It also had a little section playing Dutch Trance, you can never go wrong with that! (I stood under it for a little bit and had a dance)

With the pavilions closing we made our way out of the park and had problems getting back due to the amount of people also leaving. The queue for taxis was at least a thousand people and so to jump that queue we went further down the road and into a taxi that stopped at the junction. We were told off by the police but our driver sped away from them. So now we're assisting a fugitive athough in our defence we could say he kidnapped us.

So a very busy but fruitful day today. 6 coasters from 4 parks and the expo tick! Tomorrow we're off to the second Happy Valley park.
