Train to Tianjin

002

This morning we left our luggage in Beijing, said "no thankyou" one last time to the local traders and took a small bag away for the next two days, visiting Tianjin and Quinghuangdo.

Tianjin is located south east of Beijing and took us only half an hour to reach on the new inter-city express. Similar to the Shinkansen in Japan these train reaches a top speed of 180mph so makes easy work of the journey.

012

180 mph is approximately 300km/h

007

So how much did this bullet train ride cost? 580 yuan or just under £6. Yep, that's right. In the UK a similar trip would likely be well over ten times that!

017

This poster welcoming us to Tianjin featured the large looping coaster in Tianjin Amusement Park. This park was on the original itinerary but closed a few months before we departed.

Obviously inspired

The rather impressive Millennium clock located not too far from the main train station.

A very clever don't drink and drive road sign.
