Shanghai Pearl Tower

165

Next stop was the Oriental Pearl Tower in Pudong. This is the famous tower that looks a bit like Thunderbird 3.

181

The central elevator, which you'll only ride on the way down!

Clowning around in one of the other lifts

We had dinner in the revolving restaurant at the top of the tower. It was a fair selection of food with some humour provided by the crowds baying for the arrival of the next tray of watermelon. Having ordered a couple of drinks and experiencing the prices I realised why people were clamouring for it.

186

The windows on this floor are purple to keep the sun out so be prepared for purpley photos like this one of the bottle opener building.

193

The observation deck on the floor below has clear windows and in some places floor.

When we were done with the windows vista (See what I did there?) we then headed down again to the Space City indoor coaster attraction, which is a small kiddy coaster that reminded me of a similar ride in Tokyo. Strangely silent, completely enclosed and a bitch to photograph.

The Pearl Tower is one of those tourist must-do attractions in Shanghai. Be prepared for crowds and queues. The picture at the top and this one should give you an idea of how much time we spent in there, admittedly some of that was spent in the revolving restaurant. The nearest station is Lujiazui on Line 2
