Wangfujing Road

We jumped off halfway home to visit Wangfujing Road, home to some neon, a lot of department stores and the notriously tourist hotspot of Food Street.

Cue lots of Vanking jokes.

Jet Li's got milk.

222

The East Church, completely out of place here in China.

227

Making our way down the street towards the food place.

In there, there where a number of stands set up selling food ranging from meat on sticks to scorpions on sticks. I tried a kebab of some meat I couldn't recognise and toffee crab apples (not the crustacean), eight of which were on a single stick.

Outside one of the many restaurants, some Chinese Opera to lure punters in. The drone sent us on our way and headed back in the opposite direction.

The area, being touristy, was also a little seedy. We were also offered massages (usually with extras), pimps offering their women, and an invitation to go and speak English with some locals in a local coffee shop, which would likely cost a small fortune; all are scams so a polite decline each time did the trick.

A little note on the subway. In an attempt to get as many people using it as possible, the price of any journey of any length is only 2 yuan, which is approximately 20 pence a pop. Ridiculous compared to what we pay in the UK.
